Over the last week a state of emergency has been declared in parts of Bosnia after the heaviest rain and worst floods since records began more than 120 years ago.
Overflowing rivers have burst into towns and villages, cutting off whole communities, while landslides have buried houses. Many have been left with little or no food, electricity or clean water, communities have been evacuated and homes have been devastated. Individuals have been left with only the possessions they were able to carry, and the clothes which they were dressed in.
For those who know anything in regards to Bosnia will know that this is a country left devastated by war, the majority of the population are unemployed and rely largely on the agricultural industry to survive. The floods have not only ripped communities and homes apart they have almost totally wiped out the countries agricultural resources for the year.
The situation is sadly still becoming progressively worse and the forecasts suggest more rainfall is yet to be expected. I would urge anyone who is able to donate to donate generously. All the money donated is going to be sent directly to the victims, the plan is to send all the money raised to the Red Cross who will then disrepute packages across the country.
